Terms You May Have Heard:

Fraud: false representation of facts through words, conduct, misleading allegations, or concealment of what should have been disclosed in order to deceive another individual and gain unlawful or unfair advantage, surrender a legal right, or inflict injury in some manner.

Defamation: the making of damaging false claims about a person or entity’s business practices, character, financial status, morals, or reputation publicly.

Libel: printed or published defamation

Slander: oral defamation
