How Government Power Threatens Freedom

What are the possible consequences of living in an overgoverned society?

Responses

Stagnation. Overgovernment curtails freedoms, reducing incentives for individual initiative. Lost initiative will reduce and eventually eliminate innovation. A society ceasing to evolve can no longer adapt to an ever-changing world and will become obsolete.

Socialism seems to be a form of control that can create significant benefits for a connected few; It was designed to benefit all equally. However, misuse during distribution can cause hardships also.
