It’s all in your approach. You should start by respecting the other person’s right to their opinion. A differing opinion does not automatically mean that this person is incompetent or has malicious intent. Until proven otherwise, we must assume that each of us wants the best possible future for all parties and that we only disagree on how to achieve that objective. Agreement is never guaranteed, but if this foundational respect is established and maintained civil discourse can occur and mutual trust be cultivated.
