Published October 24, 2024
During this engaging discussion period, Hoover Senior Fellow, Dominic Parker, and students tackle the emerging tools and challenges in maintaining research integrity while pursuing environmental protection. Discussion reveals growing tensions between pure research and activism, particularly regarding government funding and data access in conservation work. The session highlights a central challenge facing environmental scientists today: how to advance conservation through research while preserving the objectivity that gives their work credibility.
Dominic (Nick) Parker is the Ilene and Morton Harris Senior Fellow (adjunct) at the Hoover Institution and the Anderson-Bascom Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he has won several awards for research and teaching.
